Very first post!

Well, today was a good day for all three babies! Lyla Grace and Callen are now on CPAP and seem to be doing well. Sutter is still on nasal cannula and doing great! Today LG weighed 1 lb. 9 oz, Callen 2 lb. 12 oz., and Sutter weighed in at a whopping 3 lb. 2 oz.!

Sutter has a staph infection in his arm. They are treating him with antibiotics. Tonight he had to have a spinal puncture to check for meningitis (they do this as a precaution whenever a baby has an infection). We will know the results within 48 hrs. He continues to do well with his feedings. All three babies are being fed through a tube that goes directly to their stomach. Paul and I have been able to hold Sutter several times over the past week. It is the best feeling in the world! I just can't wait to hold the other two!


Callen had another brain scan Monday. There was no new bleeding which is a blessing! It looks like the old blood is still being reabsorbed. For those of you that don't know Callen had a brain bleed that looked like a grade 2-3.They believe his bleed occurred at birth. We won't know if it caused long term damage until he starts crossing milestones (crawling, walking, talking, etc.). I just want someone to tell me he will be 100% healthy. The waiting is so frustrating! A friend reminded me not to pray anxiously, but to pray that God would provide the daily needs of each baby.


Lyla Grace is still tiny, but doing well. Due to her size she does not like stimulation (touching, noise). The nurses assure me she will grow out of this. I can't wait to hold and love on her! Her lungs have had a good bit of fluid on them, so they have given her several doses of steroids. She definitely seems to be feeling better and requiring less oxygen.


I can't believe it has been three weeks since they were born! They are 31 weeks adjusted age. The NICU usually starts trying to bottle feed babies when they get to 34 weeks. They say it may be difficult for our babies to bottle feed because they had respiratory distress at birth. I'm praying they will defeat the odds and be able to bottle feed without any problems. It will be one step closer to bringing them home!
