So for the latest update...

Sutter's antibiotics for staph were stopped and he seems to be doing well. He was 4.1 lb today! He is still on the cannula and getting his milk through the feeding tube. We are still hoping he gets to try bottle feeding in the next few weeks! He seems like a pretty laid back baby... he doesn't fuss much and sleeps ALOT! The babies had their first eye exam yesterday. The eye Dr. checked to make sure the babies don't have ROP. Paul and I were in the NICU during the tests. It was heart wrenching for me because it is a very uncomfortable test for the babies and they let out the saddest cry! Great news is that all babies retinas looked good so far! Praise God! The babies will continue to have their eyes checked every few weeks.

Callen is still on nasal cannula. He is still on full feeds and weighed 3.1 lb. He is requiring more oxygen than his siblings. Please pray that he would mature and not require so much oxygen. Callen had another brain scan the other day to check the bleeding. The Dr. said that almost all the blood has been reabsorbed! We still won't know if the bleeding caused long term damage until Callen starts sitting up, crawling, walking, talking.

Lyla Grace was a whopping 2.1 lb today! I have to admit I felt like she would never get to 2 lb. She is still on CPAP and having some heart rate drops but she is feeling better than several days ago. Her cultures came back negative and they were able to stop her antibiotics. The Dr. thinks she may have picked up some type of viral infection. She was able to start eating again and seems much happier! Please pray that she would be able to get on cannula soon and stop having heart rate drops. The nurses have told us that the babies are having heart rate drops because their brains are still immature. Several people have asked me what the requirements are for the babies to come home. Here is what we were told:
They must go 7 days without having a heart rate drop
They must be on "full feeds" based on their weight
They must be able to maintain their body temperature in a crib
They have to be off of oxygen (no nasal cannula)

The babies haven't met any of these goals, but I know we will get there!
